I could never decide if it was Rose or Steven singing this
It is scary how this could work either way. Steven looks up to Rose and wishes he can fill in the void she left. He, in a way, feels entitled to do it. He wants to be good and love like Rose. Yet, because of the way the gems hid the fact that she shattered, it would make sense that she is not really all good. The lyric “if I could be half of what you think of me” makes sense in Rose’s case because now even Steven knows that she wasn’t completely good.
I see no difference.
